Fitwalk Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 11, 2026

Fitwalk ("we", "our", "the app") is a group fitness-walking app that lets people sign up, join a walking group, log daily activity, and see monthly standings. This policy explains what information Fitwalk collects, how it's used, and your choices.

Information we collect

Account information. You can create an account with email and password, with Google Sign-In, or with your phone number:

Group and activity data. We store the groups you create or join, your daily check-ins (date, and optionally step count, distance, or duration), and computed statistics (active days, streaks, monthly standings).

Health data (Apple Health / HealthKit). If you choose to use "Sync from Apple Health," Fitwalk reads your step count for the current day from Apple's HealthKit framework, with your explicit permission granted through iOS's system permission dialog. Fitwalk:

You can revoke Fitwalk's access to Apple Health at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Fitwalk.

How we use information

We use the information above solely to operate the app's features: authenticating you, showing you your groups, computing group leaderboards, and determining each month's winner. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Where information is stored

Data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), Google's cloud infrastructure. Other members of a group you join can see your display name and your check-in activity within that group (active days, streak, step counts if you choose to share them) — this is core to how the app works.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account) — this removes your account, your group memberships, and your check-in history immediately. You can also contact us at the email below to request deletion.

Children's privacy

Fitwalk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above.
